Don't pay too much
Speaking from painful experience I can warn you - DON'T PAY TOO MUCH FOR MASTERING. I will be the first to admit that there are a number of first class mastering houses out there that have impeccable reputations. They do quality work and no one will really argue with that. Well I think that maybe we should. I won't mention names but a few years ago I had a client send their mixed master to one of these mastering facilities. What came back was technically correct but the actual audio adjustments made didn't even come close to justifying the $1500.00 bill they received. It was after this, along with a few other similar experiences, that I decided to provide mastering.
Not only do we here at Cascade Productions provide you with a technically correct PMCD ready fo replication, we will the make necessary audio adjustments to help your music sound it's best. Often times we have found that though recording your project at home may save you some cash, it rarley sounds as good as one cut in a pro studio. It takes us years of experience to develop the ears and techniques we use to mix albums properly. In fact, I'll be learning for the rest of my life. While mastering can't magically fix all your mixing woes it certainly can, if done by the right engineer, cover a multitude of sins.
Cascade will do whatever we can to master your project to it's best possible outcome, while not causing you to go broke in the process. Unlike my previous experiencecs that returned a master that was literally difficult to discern the difference between the original, we'll make the changes necessary. Not to say we always make drastic changes, hopefully we don't have to. A well recorded project shouldn't sound much different than the original. That wasn't the case in my previously mentioned scenario - that project needed help and $1500.00 later it still didn't get it.
We can master most projects in 2-5 hours and at our standard hourly rates you'll not only be pleased with your master, you'll be pleased with the bill. Give us a call, we'd love to talk about your mastering needs.
